Episode 52: David Sedaris

One of his most famous stories describes the Christmas David Sedaris dressed up as an elf when he worked at Macy’s Santaland. His monthly appearances on NPR recounting zany adventures, led to his first book contract. Since then, Sedaris has written many books that have sold more than 12 million copies. His essays are about what it was like to grow up in a family of 6 kids in Raleigh, North Carolina, his drug using days and his obsessive behaviors like walking 43 miles in one day and picking up trash in England. In our conversation, David Sedaris talks about why he likes to prowl New York City’s streets after midnight and the current whereabouts of his new ruffled Comme des Garcons jacket.
